Change We Can't Believe In
Well, today Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination for President of the US of A. Unfortunately, Mr Obama should have any easy time winning the presidency because his campaign is based on his perception instead of reality. Obama's entire campaign is "I am not President George W. Bush," "Change" and "I will pull the troops out of Iraq." Every speech Obama has given, he has said these words at some point. Now come on people, even I could win on that platform. President Bush is extremely unpopular, so it should be easy for a Democrat to win the White House (in fact I think Obama will win no matter what McCain does or Obama screws up). I believe this because people want change (even though McCain has shown he does not walk lock in step with Bush), they want someone different in the White House and they love the possibility of the 1st Black man to be President of the United States. This election has nothing to do with past results (many of which shows that Obama is extremely liberal), nor what they will specifically do once elected (Obama has never explained that). God Help America when Obama wins. I think America will regret their decision.

My two cents: While McCain had the reputation of a maverick, his relentless pandering, changing stances and Bush supporting shows when it comes down to it, he's not any different from the people in power now.
I gotta disagree with you. I wish the democratic party had a stronger candidate than either Hillary or Obama, but Obama is better than McCain any day. McCain = 4 more years of Bush.
(and besides, no one says what they're actually going to DO in the primaries. And if they do, I don't ever believe them anyway. Yes, I'm jaded.)
OH! I got accosted by some Nader people yesterday. Now that's something we can agree on: Nader people are crazy--and quite hostile, I might add!
Oh, and as much as I hate to say it, West Virginia does NOT love the idea of a black man as president. We had some pretty nasty press coverage here, in case you missed it. I've heard hard-core anti-war democrats admit they would vote for McCain rather than Obama. It's really sad.
Melissa, I had a feeling this post would insite some strong feelings. I work with many many many people who love Obama and it just drives me up a wall. I just think a lot of people are following Obama because he says the change word all the time and rather than who he really is. Hell, my brother even voted for Obama in the Utah Primary. I think you are one of the very few informed voters out there so, I really don't include you in my crazy rantings.
I am sorry about the Nader people, they are crazy. You should also see the Lyndon LaRousse people. They have published materials they hand out :(
Don't feel too bad, I am totally jaded too.
